Adjacent to the railway line at Hoghton Summit is the small community of Hoghton Bottoms
Central to the community was the Wesleyan Methodist Chapel erected in 1794. This was before the coming of the railway and it can only be imagined what it must have been like when the gangs of navvies arrived to dig out the cutting, build the adjacent bridge and lay railway tracks.
Sadly the building is closed and somewhat neglected now. I felt I had to record the images for posterity.
