Driver for the trip, the very young looking John Tyson, (he's buying the beers in The Nevada Hotel next time so I'm sucking up a bit) stands behind the conductor and one of the many young up and coming engineers who hopefully will take over the reins. On the footplate is the fireman who answers to the name "Bear".

The weather here looks warm & sunny in the photo but the Gods were about to throw everything at us over the next two days - gale force winds causing dust storms, snow and sleet and temperatures barely above freezing point. This was after 100degrees+ at St George, Utah just 250 miles to the south.
