A Class 507 EMU departs Aintree (Sefton Arms) station towards Liverpool.

In the foreground lies the deep cutting that leads into Aintree Central station. Towards the end of its life it was used just once a year for the Grand National specials but its days were numbered and it closed for good in 1964. The site of the station is now lost under the DELTIC Way Industrial Estate. A reminder that the DELTIC diesel engines were built at the English Electric factory a short distance away to the west.
A far more detailed website that is worth viewing is this one......Aintree Central details.
