A Class 502 3 car EMU draws to a halt at Maghull station in 1964
On the right was the original wooden shed booking office and shelter. 3 fire buckets can be seen hanging on the wall. These days I guess they would disappear very quickly
On the left between the concrete post and the taller post passengers departing the station down the slope would stuff their train tickets in the gap between the two posts when there was nobody to collect tickets. I created a huge collection of tickets from this source. Sadly they were all thrown out by persons unknown (probably my mother!).
A ticket collector stands ready on the far platform to check and collect all tickets from passengers alighting from the Ormskirk train as it arrives.
