Castle Class 4-6-0 no 5043 Earl of Mount Edgcumbe.

Castle Class 4-6-0 no 5043 Earl of Mount Edgcumbe.

The initial movement for our train to Liverpool today was to be a diesel drag from Tyseley's Warwick Road platform within the loco works via Bordesley Junction, the Camp Hill line past Birmingham City's football ground then via Proof House Junction to arrive at the southern end of Birmingham's dreadful New Street Station.

Departure was then to be made the same way but this time hauled by 5043 and then via a circuitous route around the West Midlands to Wolverhampton..

The diesel was to be towed all the way today to enable the train to be turned at the Liverpool end.
