From Michael Clemens excellent book "The Last Years of Steam in Shropshire and the Severn Valley"
"Oswestry was the headquarters of the Cambrian Railways and in this colour view looking north dating from the autumn of 1966, the locomotive, carriage and wagon works can be seen on the right that were brought into use in 1866. All three operations were housed in the one building that was 812-feet long by 210-feet wide. Features visible in the photograph are the tower surmounted by a weather cock and the main entrance from the town provided by a footbridge that spanned nine CR and four GWR tracks. The signal box beyond the bridges Oswestry North, open continuously in the summer of 1959 except between 6.45 am and 3.00pm on Sundays.
