A rare photo of mine taken in 1964 (aged 11) of WD 2-8-0 no 90655 on the level crossing taking a northbound freight from the docks.
Behind the signalbox is the wooden hut where Mrs. Fisher - the newsagent owner - used to prepare the newspaper delivery rounds.
In the winter the newspaper piles were laid on the shop floor. That is until a customer walked in with his dog and it promptly cocked its leg and emptied its bladder over one of the newspaper rounds. Don't think it was mine I'm pleased to say.
Mrs Fisher used to save the Victorian pennies from her till for me. I still have a fair collection of old coins somewhere.
