The "Pacer" departs north over the level crossing at Rufford.
So much has changed here since the downgrading of this major double-track mainline from Liverpool Exchange to Preston and beyond.
The level crossing gates have now been modernised to the lifting barrier type.
The signal box has been demolished and replaced on the platform by a portacabin arrangement.
The goods yard, accessed via the entrance on the left hand side has now long gone, although for a few years the yard was occupied by a glass fibre garden pond manufacturer.
V-reg cars were from 1979.
