James Reah gave a fascinating talk about the "Battle of the Solent" when Mary Rose sank in 1545.

This painting shows the French fleet off the coast of the Isle of Wight with the English fleet to the right. An exchange of cannon fire is taking place between an English ship and two French galleys. In the centre of the picture the tops of two masts can be seen which is all that could be seen of the Mary Rose after it had keeled over.
