"The Mayflower" ran from London to Plymouth in GWR days.

2nd train of the day was hauled by newly restored 2-8-0 no 2857. It is seen on departure from Arley with fireman Ron looking out from the footplate. This was by a far the best pass of the day and the loco sounded superb as it climbed away from the station and up the valley. Thankyou.
Not quite so sure about the loco being paired with the Gresley teak set of carriages though?
