Having walked along the main road here's the view looking east towards Parbold and Wigan.

On the left is the signalbox. The bobby even has his own streetlight to light the walkway to the box. Beyond the box the Burscough curves turned left and right towards the railway line that crosses in the distance. To the right is Ormskirk and further to Liverpool. To the left is Preston. In the 60's it was a mainline and in fact the final steam hauled service train ran over the bridge on 3rd August 1968. Re-instatement of the curves, particularly that towards Ormskirk, has been a constant demand for over 40 years.
