Sitting on a truncated through road adjacent to platform 12 was todays "Thunderbird" unit - 57304.

This loco was previously 57304 "Gordon Tracy" whilst being usued by Virgin Trains in pink Thunderbirds livery. However it has now been taken on by Direct Rail Services and renamed "Pride of Cheshire" and painted in a less flamboyant livery.
